The novel Catching Fire is the second of three in the chilling
series, The Hunger Games. It is the type of book that has you on the
edge of your seat, on a ride that takes you beyond your wildest assumptions,
bringing you into a world of corruption and chaotic events. You must know that
it isn’t as easy as simply just putting the book down. Even after the world of
thrill has been closed between the pages, your mind is still wide open in a
frenzied state questioning everything you have just read and keeping you in
deep thought about the awful events the characters have encountered.
The author brought me so far into the disastrous and unfortunate lives
of the characters that I couldn’t help but think about the abundance we have in
our country today: life, freedom, peace, justice and the list could go on. As
well, I thoroughly admired the bravery that Katniss required to endure such
misfortune as it made me realise how easy and blessed my life is in comparison
to hers and many suffering countries in our world.
Be prepared to have this book keep your mind pondering for hours on end.
This gripping, thought-provoking novel is a perfect addition to the series and
is an exceptional read.

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.
I found that this book was just as enticing, if not more, as the first book in the Hunger Games series. During the day, I found myself pondering about the stir of events in the book and I tried to figure out how they would progress. I was completely captivated throughout the entire book. As stated above in the previous post, I also found it almost impossible to put the book aside.
This book assisted me to open my eyes to the world around us. How fortunate we are to live in such a thriving, wealthy and prosperous country. How, in comparison to others, lucky we are to live in a country where our government influences us for the good, without controlling our every move of our lives as if we are pawns on a chess board. You would think with all of our abundance, that we would be a content people, satisfied with what we have. Yet, we find ourselves daydreaming about those new pair of shoes or coveting that cute sweater that we saw in a store window. We are all at fault for being so inconceivably ungrateful.
Catching Fire led me on a journey of adventure, romance and suspense. I was 100% satisfied with how the story continued. When I finished the book, it only encouraged me to read on to the next book. I would highly refer this book to anyone, no matter what age or gender, it is a book that everyone should have the opportunity to read.

Catching Fire the name says it all. Katniss Everdeen "the girl on fire", Katniss won the Hunger games but not by herself Peeta Mellark helped her through it all.The two of them won after their threat of the deadly berries. After uncovering his never ending love towards Katniss he stayed by her side. Katniss was caught off guard when she went home, there were rumors everywhere about both the Capital and the rebels and uprises.
This book was a amazing, when you read the first you think it can't get any better but it can. Katniss’s love for Peeta grows and there flame will not burn out, things happen that you don't expect but it flashes through your mind that you don't even have time to rethink it because the next part is already happening. I stayed up countless night’s till three in the morning reading Catching Fire. I could not stop reading it, it's full of happy and exciting surprises and sad unexpected events. the Capitol has gotten rougher towards both Katniss and Peeta but also toward the districts and the people in the Games.
The author brought me into the book by writing it in such a way that I would feel as if I was Katniss, she wrote it with such feeling and movement that when certain things happened I gasped and fell back into reality. Suzanne Collins did an amazing job with mixing up a few things, cause when you think its all over its not something big explodes.
Some nights I would dream about being in the Hunger games and wake up realizing that it was just a dream and I would try to figure out the next part or what was going to happen next. This book is something else not many people could have put the feeling and depth into the book the way Suzanne Collins did so. It feels as if she put the hurt in our world child labour etc and war into the book but put it together and it formed The Hunger games, it was very well written.
The way this book just holds onto you and never leaves you mind no matter what your doing, you could not forget it, it stays in you memory and you'll be gripping the book while you read, it's an unforgettable adventure!

This book was very action-packed and inspirational. Action-packed because there are many fight scenes as well. There were many chaotic fights that turned out to usually have some sort of fatality. This book was also inspirational because it showed you should stand for what you believe is right and help fight for the ones in need (in this case most of the districts). Katniss is viewed as a symbol of freedom for the districts. They know with her they can make a change.
Catching Fire also had many twists and suspenseful moments in it as well. For example when you finally thought katniss was safe, but yet again put into some sort of danger. You’ll have to read to find out what happened, but it seemed like a very clever move by the Capital. When you felt everything was nice and fine, nothing really was going to happen and they were going to live happily. Then they would throw something unsuspected at you.
