The Fall of Reach is an extremely captivating novel. The book is a prequel to the best selling game Halo:Combat Evolved. At first glance, the book may appear childish or filled with mindless action, but I assure you it is anything except that. During an action-packed war, it shows what kind of lengths humans would go to in order to win. Eric Nylund takes a new view on creating heroes, and while the book questions our morality, it also teaches us the value of camaraderie. The book is extremely well written, with engaging dialogue that makes you want to read more and more, and expands on the Halo universe background exceptionally well. The one downside is that there are some minor sections that are somewhat dull.
