The Flood, written by William C. Dietz, picks up brilliantly where The Fall of Reach left off. It's the tale of the crew of the Pillar of Autumn struggling to survive on the mysterious ring world called "Halo". It's amazing how the author can portray so many different perspectives, such as the infallible super soldier, humans turned into infection forms, or even just the average soldier hoping to just get out alive. Being the only book in the series that is based off of any of the games, the author does an excellent job of filling in gaps of knowledge and answering questions that were not addressed in the games. Some of my favourite parts of the book are the small sections that you can read after you complete the book which contain surprising and enrapturing information.
