           Boone Drake is shot while protecting a friend in trouble, which puts him, a need-to-move detective, in a hospital bed. When his girlfriend is accused of treachery, he must escape the hospital and prove her innocence before she is locked away for good.  His biggest concern is getting Haeley out of jail... But he can't avoid the fact that she could be guilty.


        The Betrayal was a very enjoyable book. The characters are very well developed and their flaws are very evident, making them feel as though they could jump off the pages at you.
         This book has a mix of detective work, romance, suspense and friendship.  I really enjoyed the author's sense of humor smattered throughout the book. He created Boone as a very sarcastic character, and he seemed to really like to use that side of Boone, as there are numerous hilarious remarks throughout.
         The story has a very thought-provoking concept. Having someone close to you being charged of treachery, especially a girlfriend or someone you know extremely well, would be incredibly hard to deal with. The hardest part would be knowing that you can't trust anyone, not even your closest friends.
         If someone close to you was suspected of a serious crime, what would you do? Would you confront him/her? Would you let it slide and ignore it? If you knew he/she was guilty, would you turn him/her in?
        Tough question.
