Insightful, Clever, Engaging
Fiction based on the life of a teenage student, is a romance novel. This book starts out with the main character Auden. She explains her past, the hardships she encountered during her parents divorce, and how she copes with the separation. As a dedicated student, Auden's first priority is school, and her whole life she has been expected to act like an adult. At the end of her senior year, Auden spontaneously goes to visit her dad in Colby near the ocean, and yearns for her missed childhood before she goes off to university. She meets some new friends who try to help her get her childhood back, resistant at first, Auden learns she can have more then the responsible school life, but also have fun in her last summer of freedom.
This book has a good message about how to open up to the people you care about, and how taking a chance is better then never trying at all. I can relate to this book being a straight A student, and sometimes it gets stressful, and those are the days you are most thankful for your friends, when you need a night out, or to relax. This book inspired me, here is one of my favourite quotes from the book:
"You couldn't just pick and choose at will when someone depended on you, or loved you. It wasn't like a light switch, easy to shut on or off. If you were in, you were in. Out, you were out. To me, it didn't seem complicated at all. In fact, it was the simplest thing in the world." - Auden
This book explains how you need balance in life, and how friends really are important. You can learn a lot in school depending on your efforts, but there is also certain subjects you will never learn, like how to ride a bike...

Captivating, Addictive, Expressive
ReplyDeleteThe book explains how school and learning are very important in life but its hard to go places without knowing how to be social and understand people. I relate to this story because my parents got a divorce and sometimes it seems easier to just focus on school work and nothing else. I find that it gets difficult though when you miss out on some of those moments your suppose to make with friends. Friends are like a relaxing getaway from all the work in life and there the support you need to keep you going. I think that whoever reads this book will learn to understand that life needs a little fun in it to be able to make it bearable.
