Multicultural fiction about the life of an indian girl in India.
As I read this story, I realized more of the hardships the indian girls have to go through just to be alive. Just to be brought to this world, the mother has to go through harships of having a girl in a family that cannot afford to have a girl. She takes the effort to walk her second daughter to an orphange which takes her 3 days. Her first daughter is killed by her husband's cousin because there family cannot afford to have a daughter and in some villages having a daughter in your household is a disgrace to the family. The daughter that she gives to the orphange is named Usha on the way to the orphange. Her husband doesn't know about this and nor does anyone in the family. Usha is then adopted by an indian family from San Diego, who name their daughter Asha. The rest of the story is mainly about how she gets to see her family again so read it and enjoy.
