The Lies of Locke Lamora follows Locke Lamora, the Thorn of Camorr, as he is pulling his latest heist against the Don and Dona Salvara, using a ingenious plans that no other person in Camorr could create with the exception of Locke.
The Lies of Locke Lamora is the first book in a planned seven book series. If the rest of the books are like this one, I know I am in for a shocking, stunning, and wonderful ride.
The author of The Lies of Locke Lamora had me falling in love with these unbelievable realistic characters. I was surprised at how clever and stunningly arrogant these characters were. Locke is stubborn, clever, and disrespectful character and so are all of his four gang members, his best friends, and his brothers. The relationship built between the characters did not seemed forced, but natural like the sun being in the sky every single day. The interaction between the characters was filled with wit, humour, and banter that had you laughing and shaking your head at how stupid these characters could act and be at certain point.
Scott Lynch created the most beautiful world when writing The Lies of Locke Lamora. The story take place in the city of Camorr, a place that resembles today's Venice, that was built on top of a land that was once ruled by a mysterious alien race of Elren. The Elren created massive, angelic structures out of Elderglass that soar into the skies, the tallest building being about six hundred feet tall. There is an entire rose garden built out of Elderglass, where the thorns pierce your skin and swallow up all your blood.
The Lies of Locke Lamora is a fast-paced, clever, hilarous, and fun read.
5/5
